The Intel Seacliff Trail reference platform is a new software defined networking (SDN) enabled top of rack switch based on the Intel Ethernet Switch FM6000 Series (Alta) and Intel Xeon® Processor E3-1105C (Gladden) and Intel Communications Chipset 8920 (Cave Creek). Seacliff Trail offers 48 SFP+ 10Gbps ports, four QSFP 40 Gbps ports, and a four-core Intel Xeon CPU all in a 1U rack mount form factor. ADI Engineering builds, sells, and supports development kits and private-labeled OEM products based on Seacliff Trail. ADI Engineering also develops customized derivatives of Seacliff Trail, allowing OEMs to quickly launch custom appliances, which can be scaled to volume through ADI Engineering or by direct customer engagement with our manufacturing partner Newisys, a Division of Sanmina, under ADI’s unique Open IP supply chain model.
Software support includes the Intel SDN framework, Intel Ethernet Switch SDK/API, and the upcoming Wind River ONS OpenFlow software application. Other software includes the Intel Firmware Support Package (FSP) royalty-free x86 boot loader, Intel Data Plane Development Kit (DPDK), Intel QuickAssist drivers, and Fedora Linux.
ADI Engineering’s Quadrant AMC reference platform based on the Intel Xeon Processor E3-1105C and Intel Communications Chipset 8920 serves as the integrated control, management, and data plane processor. This highly flexible AMC module provides CPU scalability from a low-cost single-core Celeron to a high-performance four-core Xeon to cover a wide range of use cases and price/performance points.
